[edit] UUIDs
A UUID is a unique identifier that helps you share your profile with others as well as update, delete and rate it. In the past there has been one UUID to do this job. Starting with smolt 1.1, a public UUID is used that can be shared with everyone along with an automatically generated Administrator password for the user to rate the computer system. The private UUID stored on your system is not used directly in any way by the user anymore, smolt uses it to only communicate privately with the server.
[edit] Private UUID
The private UUID is generated by your system, normally as part of Smolt's installation and should never need to be used directly by the user. As a smolt user it is perfectly ok to completely forget that a private UUID exists as once the installation is organic nuts completed, you need not worry about it. The private UUID remains unchanged and is used to add, update or delete your profile upon request. It is also used to generate or re-generate your public UUID.
[edit] Public UUID
The public UUID (the one you'll actually be using) can be used to share your profile with others. If, for example, you feel your machine and privacy has been compromised, or your public_uuid in the hands of someone you wish it hadn't, or for whatever reason you want a new public UUID, you can regenerate it with: smoltSendProfile -n (requires smolt 1.1 or newer)
[edit] Admin Password
The admin password is a string you can put into your profile view page to actually edit it. In the past anyone with your public_uuid could also rate / change the system. As of smolt 1.1 this now requires a password which can be seen by running: smoltSendProfile -a (requires smolt 1.1 or newer) Your admin password will be the last line.
